The official blog of Revival Writing
Remember the Borg’s mantra in Star Trek: The Next Generation? “We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.” Welcome to Woketopia. Somethin’ ain’t right to be sure.
To eliminate the author from a work of literature is to strip it of its individuality. Moby Dick becomes just another book for the reader (or group) to interpret and has no inherent value of its own. Either the isolated individual or Stanley Fish’s “interpretative community” takes the place of the author. This is messed up. What will they want next, to take the authorship of creation away from God? Damn right. Many think they already have. But sayin’ ain’t doin’. Authorial intent does matter. Nobody and no group can take it away.
Freedom to choose between good and evil, right and wrong, the rational and the irrational, is the essential inalienable right of the individual. It is also the heaviest of burdens.
Above all, remember this: Humans do not create reality through language. Sorry. Reality creates language through human experience. No matter what genre you write in, use this truth as a key to success.
“Everybody has their own truth,” is the mantra in colleges and universities. We can choose our sex, gender, and our virtues. Where there is no common standard, winners are the ones who are able to manipulate others into believing their versions of truth, whether it be gender fluidity, critical race theory, or whatever. Virtue, because it can mean anything, no longer exists.
It is not for the world to set the agenda of the Church, but for the Church to guide the world.
There is an attack on language by those powers that attempt to confuse in order to conquer. People want the truth, not fiction based upon wishes. Shake off the cloud of cognitive dissonance engendered by modern-day Gnostics who would be gods themselves.
Let us come together in pursuit of the Beauty that burns away the ugliness in the world. Language is our weapon, and, as the adage attests, it is mightier than the sword.
“Of all that is written, I love only that which is written in blood, Write with blood, and you will find blood is spirit.”
The disarray of stable meaning allows a world such as ours to flourish, a world where pornography and abortion are seen as normal. In this world, human sexuality is demystified to the point of banality.
The words we use should cultivate our God-given reality, not undermine it.
Don't lose your sense of wonder amidst all the darkness and doubt prowling about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Keep the faith. Everything depends on it. T.S. Eliot says it far better than I ever could: “The Cultivation of Christmas Trees” By T.S. Eliot...
The warnings of Fatima continue to ring true. Please post on social media to spread the word. We must work together to stop this nonsense.
The God Question is simple: do you believe in a transcendent God or do you not?
In many ways, conservatism has become a sanctuary for the liberals of yesteryear who located virtue in the “laws of nature and of nature’s God” where men are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.”
If students aren’t able to recognize great literature, how will they ever be able to write it?
